ViBeZ Support

ViBeZ sets your Slack status from what you're playing in Spotify or Apple Music. Most problems are one of these.

I can't find ViBeZ

ViBeZ has no Dock icon and no main window. It lives around the notch at the top of your main display — look for the cat (ᓚ₍^•ᴥ•^₎) just left of it. On a Mac without a notch it draws a small black pill at the top centre instead. Hover it to open it; right-click it for Settings, Pause and Quit. Only the main display (the one with the menu bar) gets it.

No status is being set

  1. Is music actually playing? Paused counts as not playing unless “When music stops” is set to keep the last status.
  2. Check the connection: right-click the island → Settings → Accounts. Each workspace needs its own toggle switched on.
  3. Check automation permission. The first time ViBeZ reads a music app, macOS asks permission once per app (“ViBeZ wants to control Spotify”). If it was dismissed, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation, and switch ViBeZ on under both Spotify and Music. Then right-click the island → Update Now.

Statuses are wrong for some artists

Genres come from public lookups, and no database on earth agrees with you about every band. Fix it once instead of complaining forever: right-click the island → Edit Vibes → Genres, find the artist's tags, and point them at the vibe you'd have picked. Or add an artist override in the Vibe editor. Your mapping beats ours from then on.

Slack admin blocked the install

If Connect Slack fails with “not approved by an admin”: some workspaces restrict apps that request profile access. An owner or admin of that workspace must approve ViBeZ before you can connect it there. Ask them to review the app named ViBeZ in the workspace's installed-apps requests, or connect a personal workspace where you're the owner.

This is a Slack-side policy for that workspace only — nothing about ViBeZ changes for your other workspaces.

Tell us: macOS version, which music app, and what you expected vs. what happened. Include the log file if we ask: right-click the island → Settings → General → Reveal Log in Finder (visible when debug logging is on).
